Vital life lesson: what goes up will come down. This does not only apply to physical objects. All good things must come to an end; people will come and go, live and die, and life, and us, can only go on.

Most kids learn this lesson the normal way, without permanent emotional damage. Others, unfortunately, learn it in other ways.

This was their mountain. Perhaps it's better this way.



For the EqD NATG contest-ish event - draw a pony on a hilltop and/or at their peak. (This qualifies, for they are at the peak of Mt. Crusader, after all.)

This is a bit darker than my usual stuff; I deliberately went the tearjerker route and want to gauge the response. I'll probably be skinned alive by some of you (may EQD have mercy on my soul), but we'll just have to see how this goes. I have absolutely nothing against the Crusader that seems to be conspicuously missing, just that this fits the Applejack's-missing-parents plot especially well.
